The facility is a level II trauma center and a certified stroke center. This role involves 12-hour shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The nurse will float to the ED Overflow unit as needed. The nurse-to-patient ratio will flex to 1:4. Candidates must be able to work well with staff and physicians. Experience managing acute psychosis, arterial lines, and blood product administration is essential. The position requires care of ventilated patients and management of dysrhythmias. Candidates should have experience with triage and obtaining 12-lead EKGs. Floating will be required, with staffing needs involving various patient age groups, including neonates, adolescents, and geriatrics. The daily census can reach up to 230 visits. Travelers are typically the first to float in the staffing model. Compliance with attendance policies is critical, as multiple call-offs can lead to termination. Every other weekend and holiday coverage is mandatory.
