Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Must possess an active nursing license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: Experience in obtaining 12 lead EKG/ECG. Proficient in starting and maintaining IVs. Knowledge of emergency medications. Description: Registered Nurse role in the Emergency Room. Average daily census is around 60 patients. The unit consists of 8 rooms/beds. RNs will be responsible for managing a variety of patient conditions. Conditions include ACS, CVA, TIA, respiratory conditions, sepsis, diabetes-related emergencies, trauma, and behavioral health emergencies. Common medical complaints may include hypertension, dehydration, urinary tract infections, flu, COVID, and other acute illnesses. Patients may present with any condition or complaint at any time. Staffing structure includes 1-1 ED RNs, 1-2 providers, 1 MSI RN, 1 charge nurse, and paramedics. The ED will regularly float staff as needed. Working lunches are taken into consideration. Specific skills required encompass a range of critical and emergency care procedures. Unit patient ratios are 8 patients per nurse. Interdisciplinary support is available from various departments. Infusion pump and glucometer training are mandatory prior to the commencement of the position. All compliance-related documentation will need to be completed before starting the role. Travelers must have required licensure and certifications completed upon submission.
