Job Title: Emergency Room Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Must have experience in Emergency Room and Medical Surgical nursing License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC Must-Have: Experience in Emergency Room and Medical Surgical nursing on work history Description: This is a critical care access facility. The nurse will be required to work in all patient units, including Medical Surgical and Emergency Room. This position is a full-time role, requiring rotation on weekends (every third weekend). The average inpatient census is typically 3 to 5 patients, with a maximum of 7 to 8 patients. Staffing usually consists of three nurses and one Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on each shift. In some cases, there may be two nurses and one aide on a shift. Occasionally, a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) may be included in the staffing mix. When staff begin their shifts, they divide the inpatient load among themselves. One nurse may focus on taking care of inpatient needs if they are more experienced in that area, while another would handle Emergency Room patients. However, it is preferred that Emergency Room patients be shared among the nursing team. There is always a crisis nurse on call every night for emergencies. Experience with the Cerner electronic medical record system is preferred. Employees who decline the flu vaccine will be required to wear a mask during flu season. Specific interview availability should be provided when applying.
