# Job Opportunity – Emergency Department Registered Nurse – Virginia**Start Date:** 10/26/2026 **Location:** Salem, Virginia **Compensation:** Details provided to qualified applicants **Schedule:** Day shift (1 charge, 5 RN, 2-3 medics; increases by 4-5 RN at 11am; increases by 1-2 RN at 3pm) or Night shift (1 charge, 5 RN, 2-3 medics); Four weekend shifts per four-week scheduling period (Friday or Saturday for nights; Saturday or Sunday for days)**Highlights:**- 27-bed Emergency Department with patient ratios of 4-6:1- High-acuity, fast-paced environment handling critical procedures including RSI, sepsis interventions, stroke protocol with tPA administration, central line placement, and psychiatric patient care- EMR system: Meditech- No floating required- No on-call responsibilities- Team of approximately 50 RNs and 25 medics providing collaborative care**Requirements:**- Active Virginia RN license (or compact state license)- Minimum 2-3 years of Emergency Department nursing experience- Must have completed 2-3 travel assignments previously- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC- Preferred certifications: ENPC, NRP, NIH- Experience with high-acuity ERs and high patient volume preferred- Experience managing patient ratios of 5:1 or higher preferred**Why It's a Great Opportunity:**This position offers the chance to work in a dynamic, high-acuity emergency department where you'll utilize advanced critical care skills daily, from stroke interventions to complex sepsis management.
