**Job Description:**
- **Unit Information:**
- **Location:** Salem, VA
- **Department:** Emergency Department
- **Number of Beds:** 27
- **Staffing:** 50 RNs, 25 Medics
- **Shift Details:**
- **Schedule:** 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
- **Night Shift Staff:** 1 Charge Nurse, 5 RNs, 2-3 Medics
- **Patient Ratios:**
- 4-6 patients per RN
- **Ideal Candidate Profile:**
- **Must Have:**
- Completion of 2-3 travel assignments
- 2-3 years of ER experience
- **Preferred:**
- Experience in high acuity and fast-paced ERs
- Familiarity with patient ratios of 5:1
- **Common Procedures:**
- RSI (Rapid Sequence Intubation)
- Sepsis interventions
- Stroke protocol with tPA administration
- Central line placement
- Care of psych patients
- Transfers to other facilities (EMTALA)
- **Personality Fit:**
- Relaxed, easy-going, friendly
- Team-oriented and respectful
- **Required Certifications:**
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course preferred)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), NIH Stroke Scale
- **Floating Areas:**
- None
- **Dress Code:**
- Scrubs: Navy blue or white
- **Weekend Requirements:**
- Four weekend shifts in a four-week scheduling period (either Friday or Saturday for nights; Saturday or Sunday for days)
