**Job Description:**
- **Shift:** R-TRAVEL - RN ER (780) 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
- **Location:** Salem, VA
- **Unit:** Emergency Department
- **Number of Beds:** 27
- **Number of Staff:** 50 RNs, 25 Medics
**General Information:**
- **Day Shift:**
- 1 Charge Nurse
- 5 RNs
- 2-3 Medics
- Increase of 4-5 RNs at 11 AM
- Increase of 1-2 RNs at 3 PM
- **Night Shift:**
- 1 Charge Nurse
- 5 RNs
- 2-3 Medics
- **Patient Ratios:** 4-6:1
- **Type of Equipment:** EMR - Meditech
**Typical Hiring Profile:**
- **Must Have:**
- Completion of 2-3 travel assignments
- 2-3 years ER experience
- **Preferred (Nice to Have):**
- Experience in high-acuity ERs
- Experience in fast-paced ERs with high volume
- Familiarity with patient ratios of 5:1
**Typical Procedures Performed:**
- RSI
- Sepsis interventions
- Stroke protocol with tPA administration
- Central line placement
- Care of psych patients
- Transfers to other facilities (EMTALA)

- No on call required
- Weekends: Four weekend shifts (Friday or Saturday for nights; Saturday or Sunday for days) in a four-week scheduling period
