Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evening/Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must be adept with EPIC. Ability to function in a fast-paced department with fewer resources than large facilities. Experience caring for a high-acuity patient population. Description: This position requires experience in an emergency room environment. The registered nurse will work in a busy emergency department treating an average of 70-80 patients daily. The nurse to patient ratio is 4:1. The emergency department has 24 beds, including behavioral health and critical care rooms. There is a triage area, and travelers are required to perform triage duties. Security is in-house 24/7. The nurse will have support from one emergency department physician at all times. Additional mid-level providers are present during peak hours. There is a charge nurse on each shift, who may take patient assignments. Patient care technicians are available to assist with tasks such as transportation and phlebotomy. Respiratory therapy services are available in the emergency department around the clock. The registered nurse will draw labs and will be responsible for troubleshooting equipment such as vents and CPAP. The emergency department utilizes EPIC for charting. Weekend coverage may be required depending on scheduling needs. All nursing staff may float between campuses as needed. The dress code is navy blue scrubs, with plain or branded sweatshirts allowed. This role is not suitable for new emergency department nurses due to the fast-paced environment. A strong preference is given to those with experience in smaller, high-paced facilities. Candidates must be willing to assist during holidays unless negotiated otherwise. The facility transfers a significant number of patients due to the critical nature of cases. Cancellation of shifts may occur within the defined guidelines.
