The emergency department has 22 beds with additional vertical space for patients. The unit is staffed by approximately 50 professionals. Day shift typically includes one charge nurse, five to six nurses, one technician, and one medic. Night shift typically includes one charge nurse, five to six nurses, one secretary, and one technician/medic. Patient ratios are 1:4. Equipment includes Phillips and GE monitors, and Level 1 rapid infusers. The electronic medical record system used is Meditech. Typical procedures performed include cardioversion, central line placements, and management of cardiac arrests. Basic emergency room skills required include IV insertions and EKGs. Familiarity with pacemaker interrogation, code stroke protocol, and code sepsis protocol is necessary. Candidates with trauma experience and Meditech proficiency will be prioritized. The ideal candidate should be a team player who is energetic and professional. Respect for both patients and team members is essential. Ability to hold oneself and others accountable is critical. A patient-centered approach is a must. Consistent attendance is required. Adaptability to change is important. Every other weekend and at least one Friday and one Monday are required in a four-week schedule. No on-call duties are required.
