Job Title: RN - Emergency Department Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI (CPI can be obtained within 30 days of starting) Must-Have: - 2 years of ED RN experience required - BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI REQUIRED Description: The Registered Nurse will work in the Emergency Department. It includes caring for both pediatric and adult patients. Common diagnoses include COPD, CHF, chest pain, myocardial infarction, N-STEMI, stroke, TIA, new onset cardiac arrhythmia, and uncontrolled diabetes. Patient ratios are approximately 1 RN to 4-5 patients, based on acuity. There is a CNA available, typically with a ratio of 1 CNA to 10 patients. General ED skillset is required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, ventilator management, chest tubes, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, and conscious sedation. The RN will also perform ESI assessments. Support within the department includes a charge nurse, who may or may not have patient assignments, along with a 24/7 hospitalist and physician team. Bedside and central telemonitoring are available. The facility utilizes an electronic medical record system and various monitors and equipment, including IV pumps and medication dispensing systems. Floating to other facilities may be required based on regional needs. Flexibility is necessary to accommodate floating within the scope of practice. Travelers will be compensated for time spent traveling between facilities if floating mid-shift. Scheduling includes a weekend rotation every other week, with no call required. Holidays will be worked at a rate of 75%. Requests for time off may be approved up to six days, excluding holidays. Scrub color is navy.
