It is a teaching hospital. It is recognized as a Chest Pain Center and a Stroke Center of Excellence. It also holds designation as a Bariatric Center of Excellence. The Emergency Department treats a diverse range of patient types and common diagnoses including trauma cases, such as gunshot wounds, stabbings, motor vehicle accidents, and falls. Other conditions include stroke, heart failure, chest pain, respiratory illnesses, gastrointestinal disorders, infections, liver failure, acute kidney injury, and chronic kidney disease. Patient ratios are a maximum of 1:5, dependent on acuity. Candidates must possess experience in trauma and stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, conscious sedation, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, critical care drips, and blood administration. Support within the department includes reception staff, charge nurses, a dedicated IV team, respiratory therapists, and hospitalists. The facility utilizes EPIC for electronic medical records and various equipment including Alaris IV pumps and Philips monitors. Floating to other facilities may be required based on regional needs, with travel time compensated during mid-shift float requirements. Travelers will work every other weekend and 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved up to 6 days, excluding holidays. Scrub color required is navy.
