The unit has 52 beds and employs 134 staff members. On the day shift, the staff includes 1 charge nurse, 4 nurses, 1 technician, 1 unit clerk, 1 physician, and 1 midlevel provider per pod. On the night shift, staffing is similar with 1 charge nurse, 4 nurses, 1 technician, 1 unit clerk, 1 physician, and 1 midlevel provider per pod. The average patient ratio is 3:1, with low acuity cases having a 5:1 ratio, and pediatric cases utilizing team nursing. Key procedures performed in the unit include IV starts, medication administration, sedations, and care for pediatric patients. Candidates should have a good understanding of patient experience. The ideal candidate will be able to keep up with the fast-paced environment of the emergency department. Adaptability and a willingness to learn quickly are important, as the team consists of young professionals who work collaboratively. It is expected that nurses will scan patients' medications consistently. Diverse candidates are encouraged to apply.
