About Facility:
  • 109 Licensed Beds
  • No Trauma Designation
  • Not a Teaching Hospital – no residents/students
  • Advanced Primary Stroke Center
  • Radius rule: Traveler s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
Unit Information: Beds: 16

Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years ED RN experience (Resource Team requirement)

Will you accept a first-time traveler: Not preferred – will consider

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
  • Pediatric and Adult
  • COPD, CHF, Chest Pain, MI, N-STEMI, Stroke, TIA, new onset cardiac arrhythmia, uncontrolled DM, minor trauma
Patient Ratios: RN: 1:4-5, based on acuity

Required Licensure & Certifications:
  • RN: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI – required; TNCC (preferred)
Skills required:
  • General ED skillset - Cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, vent management, chest tubes, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation, Client Assessments, etc.
Support within the Department:
  • CNA
  • Charge nurse: may or may not have patient assignment
  • IV/VAT Team: Ancillary dept, but not in house every day
  • RT, 24/7
  • Hospitalist, 24/7
  • ED Physician Team
  • Bedside and Central Tele Monitoring
Technology/Equipment:
  • EMR: Epic
  • IV Pump: Alaris
  • Med dispensing: Omnicell
  • Monitors: Phillips
  • Unit specific equipment: General med-surg equipment and tele monitors
Floating:
  • Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
  • Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, any Freestanding ED within Region, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main Mercy LCH)
Orientation (facility and unit):
  • NEO
  • 2 days departmental
Scheduling:
  • Weekend rotation: every other
  • No call
  • Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
  • RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
