- Weekly Pay:$1,820 to $2,020
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide safe, timely, and compassionate nursing care to patients presenting to the emergency department
- Perform rapid patient assessments and identify immediate clinical priorities
- Conduct triage assessments and prioritize patients according to acuity and medical needs
- Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygen saturation, neurological status, pain levels, and other clinical indicators
- Recognize signs of patient deterioration and initiate appropriate nursing interventions
- Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and other prescribed treatments safely
- Establish and maintain IV access and manage IV therapies according to orders and facility protocols
- Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with emergency procedures and treatments
- Prepare patients for diagnostic testing, procedures, surgery, admission, or transfer as appropriate
- Provide wound care, dressing changes, splinting, catheter care, and other emergency nursing interventions
- Respond promptly to cardiac, respiratory, neurological, trauma, and other emergency situations
- Participate in code blue, rapid response, and resuscitation efforts
- Perform or assist with ECGs, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and other emergency department procedures as applicable
- Monitor patients receiving high-risk medications and identify adverse reactions or complications
- Provide pain management and reassess patient response to interventions
- Communicate critical patient information accurately and promptly to physicians and other healthcare professionals
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, follow-up care, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, paramedics, laboratory staff, radiology teams, technicians, CNAs, and other healthcare professionals
- Promote patient safety, infection prevention, and a clean, organized emergency-care environment
- Follow facility policies, HIPAA requirements, medication-safety procedures, and applicable nursing regulations
Qualifications
- Active Texas Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Room/Emergency Department nursing experience
- Current BLS Certification required
- Current ACLS Certification required
- Current PALS Certification required or preferred based on facility requirements
- TNCC Certification preferred or required by facility
- Strong emergency assessment and triage skills
- Experience caring for high-acuity and critically ill patients
- Strong knowledge of emergency medications, procedures, and interventions
- Experience with IV therapy, cardiac monitoring, and emergency stabilization
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR)
- Excellent clinical judgment and critical-thinking skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations
- Strong prioritization and time-management skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary emergency-care team
- Comfortable working day shifts
