Proficient in administering drips including Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, and Levophed. Ability to pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance. Experience in a Level 1 Trauma setting is essential. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department. The facility operates 637 licensed beds and holds a Level 1 Trauma designation. The Emergency Department consists of 61 beds plus surge beds. Patient ratios are generally RN: 1:4 and will depend on the assigned zone of the department. Support staff includes CNAs, unit secretaries, and a charge nurse. Phlebotomy services are available as needed. The emergency room operates with respiratory therapy and hospitalist coverage 24/7. Telemetry monitoring is provided in the ER, with central telemetry monitoring systems in use. Required technology and equipment include EMR systems, IV pumps, and portable monitors. The department has a busy atmosphere but emphasizes teamwork. Weekend rotations require 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12 during a 6-week schedule. Candidates must work one shift during each major holiday. Requests for time off must be approved by management. Scrub colors for RNs are navy.
