Patient ratios are maintained at 4:1. Unit staffing includes day and night shift secretaries, as well as techs scheduled Monday through Friday. Equipment includes Hillrom, Stryker, GE, and Lifepak defibrillators. The documentation system used is Meditech. There is a floating policy in place, allowing staff to be floated to the psych pod or to other emergency departments within the system. The unit is certified for chest pain and stroke protocols. Advanced skills are needed for various procedures performed within the unit. The required uniform is navy scrubs. Interested candidates should be aware of the telepsych capabilities available. The staff has extensive experience, with many members having served for over 5 to 20 years. There is a strong emphasis on excellent provider and nurse relations.
