At least 1 year of current hospital Emergency Department experience BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIH, and ENPC certifications CPI Blue Card Description: The Emergency Department has 24 beds and a staff of 45. Day shift consists of 4 RNs, 1 Charge RN, 2 mid-shift RNs, 1 mid-shift Unit Clerk, and 1 EMT. Night shift consists of 4 RNs, 1 night EMT, and 1 night Charge RN. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 4:1, which may increase to 5:1 during surges. Equipment includes GE monitors and EMR system is Meditech. Typical procedures performed in the unit include port access, IV start, venipuncture, and nasal wash. Point of care testing such as troponin, lactic acid, and urine dip occurs. EKG and Foley placement are also standard procedures. The ideal candidate possesses a caring, compassionate, and friendly demeanor. It is essential to be easy to communicate with and willing to go above and beyond. Candidates with preferred skills will be considered first. Preferred skills include CEN, CPEN, and US IV competency. Experience in a pediatric emergency department is a plus. New equipment and technologies may be used in the unit. A team with diverse tenure and experience provides a supportive environment.
