Contract | 12-Hour Shifts (11:00–23:00) | Expected 36–48 hours/week | Minimum 13-week assignment
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a high-volume Emergency Room serving a regional referral and tertiary care center population across all age groups, with approximately 250 visits per day and 101 beds
- Perform IV starts, triage assessments, and telemetry monitoring as core unit functions
- Float between the Emergency Observation Unit and Emergency Behavioral Health based on unit need
- Utilize unit systems including Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR; participate in daily shift huddles
- Meet weekend requirements of a minimum of 4 weekend days per 6-week scheduling period
- Adhere to a no-block-scheduling environment; all time-off requests must be pre-approved prior to signing and no additional requests may be made after booking
Required Qualifications
- Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room nursing experience
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS/BCLS, NIH Stroke Scale, PALS, and MOAB
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Proficiency in IV starts, triage, and telemetry
- Local candidates are welcome; please note that a local rate applies for candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred; first-time travelers will be considered
- Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
- Experience in high-acuity or high-volume emergency settings, including behavioral health or observation units
