Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Registered Nurse for an Acute Surgical Unit at a prominent facility in Duluth, Georgia. This fast-paced unit specializes in the care of post-surgical and medical-surgical patients, managing a high volume of admissions, discharges, and transfers daily.
The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, providing comprehensive nursing care to patients admitted from the Emergency Department, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), or direct admissions. An Admission, Discharge, Transfer (ADT) nurse is on staff to support efficient patient flow and optimize unit operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to a diverse population of acute surgical and medical-surgical patients.
- Manage a high volume of patient admissions, discharges, and transfers efficiently and safely.
- Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary team, including the ADT nurse, to ensure seamless patient transitions and optimal unit flow.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and implement nursing interventions.
- Administer medications, monitor patient responses, and document all aspects of patient care accurately.
- Educate patients and their families on post-operative care, discharge instructions, and health maintenance.
- Respond to emergent situations and provide critical care as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience within an Acute Surgical or Medical-Surgical specialty.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical record (EMR) system.

Shift Details
- Shift Type: Nights (NOC)
- Hours: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
- Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts
- Days per Week: 3 days per week; schedule varies and may include weekend rotations.
- Call Requirements: Not specified.
- Holiday Requirements: Must work two (2) major holidays (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day) and one (1) minor holiday (The Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve).
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Assignment Dates: October 26, 2026 - January 23, 2027
Licensing Requirements
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
