Registered Nurse - Acute Surgical Unit

Job Summary

This Registered Nurse position is for a dedicated Acute Surgery Unit located in Atlanta, Georgia. The unit specializes in the comprehensive care of post-surgical patients, focusing on a diverse range of procedures including general surgery, colorectal, bariatric, and plastic surgery cases.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic medical-surgical department committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. This role involves managing the recovery and post-operative needs of patients, ensuring optimal outcomes and a smooth transition through their surgical journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct and comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from various surgical procedures.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and identify changes in patient condition post-operatively.
  • Administer medications, manage pain, and perform wound care according to physician orders and hospital protocols.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, physicians, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Educate patients and their families on post-operative care, discharge instructions, and potential complications.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients.
Required Qualifications
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia or a compact state license.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent, acute care experience within a Medical-Surgical or Acute Surgical specialty.
  • Ability to work in Atlanta, Georgia.
