Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (Travel)

Shift: 3x12-hour shifts (36 hours/week)
Schedule: 11:00 AM–11:30 PM (1 position); 3:00 PM–3:30 AM (2 positions)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
License: Active California RN license
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH, PALS, and CPI or comparable certification (minimum 8-hour course, with at least 50% of instruction in person)

Job Description

The Registered Nurse provides safe, effective, individualized, age-appropriate emergency care using the nursing process. Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation of interventions, patient and family education, and advocacy to promote quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, prioritize, and document patient and family needs.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Provide appropriate nursing interventions and adapt care based on patient responses.
• Evaluate patient progress and document outcomes.
• Identify patient and family education needs and evaluate understanding.
• Advocate for patient rights and encourage participation in care decisions.
• Establish therapeutic relationships while addressing communication and cultural needs.
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams and ancillary staff.
• Delegate tasks according to team members’ scope of practice and competency.
• Recognize complex or high-risk clinical situations and seek additional resources as needed.
• Participate in patient care conferences and coordinate referrals.
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
