Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) specialty position located in an acute care setting. The role involves providing emergency nursing care to a diverse patient population, including critically ill patients, trauma cases, and various medical conditions. The position requires a high level of clinical expertise, rapid decision-making, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours, minimum of 48 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated; current BLS, ACLS, ENPC or PALS, TNCC certifications; at least 2 years of nursing experience including at least one prior travel assignment; knowledge of vasopressor and cardiac drip titration; proficiency in interpreting telemetry rhythms; and experience working in a teaching hospital environment preferred.
  • Preferred Qualifications: SANE RN experience, experience with a broad range of critical patients, working at hospitals with resident physicians.
  • Additional Information: Department handles a wide range of patient types from newborns to elderly, with various levels of acuity including trauma, cardiac events, strokes, and other critical conditions. The role may involve floating to assist different units as needed, but primarily focuses on emergency nursing care. Shift coverage includes a minimum of three attendings at all times, with designated charge nurses and ED technicians. The hospital employs Phillips monitors; nurses are expected to interpret rhythms and respond accordingly. Radiology staff transport patients for imaging, and both nurses and technicians draw labs.
