Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Description

Join a dynamic 65-bed Emergency Department, designed with pod-based care, including a dedicated pediatric pod and a separate area for acute mental health needs. This fast-paced environment averages 230 visits per day.

Job Responsibilities

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse will be responsible for the following:

• Conducting thorough patient assessments and ensuring accurate documentation.
• Performing IV therapy, phlebotomy, and EKG readings.
• Monitoring cardiac activity and conducting point-of-care testing as needed.
• Applying splints and other interventions in accordance with established protocols.
• Utilizing critical thinking skills to provide optimal patient care.
• Educating patients and families about their conditions and treatment plans.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in emergency nursing.
• Proficient in general emergency department nursing skills.
• Must have valid AHA certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
• NRP and TNCC certifications are strongly preferred.

Work Environment

The registered nurse will work within a team consisting of a clinician-to-patient ratio of 1:4 across a diverse patient population. Flexibility for floating to the Emergency Department Observation and Acute Medical Unit (AMU) is required. Rotating shifts may be requested for day shift coverage.
