Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team for night shifts. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in emergency nursing, providing care to a diverse patient population ranging from pediatric to geriatric patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the emergency department.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in a fast-paced environment.
• Manage patients with various medical conditions, including respiratory issues, heart conditions, chest pain, myocardial infarctions, strokes, and trauma-related injuries.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Participate in the care of psychiatric patients, utilizing Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) techniques as necessary.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an emergency room setting preferred; first-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and NIH Stroke Scale.
• Strong clinical skill set and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Schedule

This position requires night shifts, with the option of 3x12 or 4x12 hours per week. Every other weekend and holiday availability is required. Block scheduling is not available; special scheduling requests should be included with the request for time off at the time of application submission.

Patient Care Environment

The emergency department serves an average daily census of 30 patients, with a total of 40 beds and a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4. Patients present a variety of diagnoses, including medical emergencies, surgical cases, and some psychiatric incidents. Trauma cases are generally transferred to a nearby trauma center as needed.
