Shift Options: 3 PM–3 AM | 7 PM–7 AM
Hours: 36 hours/week
Shift Length: 12 hours
Unit: Emergency Room
EMR: Cerner

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years RN experience
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ER experience
  • Adult and Pediatric ER experience required
  • Triage experience required
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • NIHSS
  • No first-time travelers
  • Must be comfortable floating between Adult ER and Peds ER

Patient Population:

  • Approximately 50% pediatric patients
  • Adult and pediatric emergency care
  • Minor walk-ins through critically ill patients
  • STEMI, CVA, respiratory failure, asthma, abdominal pain, fractures, substance abuse and some psychiatric holds

Additional Details:

  • Adult ER: 36 treatment areas
  • Pediatric ER: 12 treatment areas + 8 fast-track pods
  • Approximately 325 combined ER visits per day
  • Peds ER is a pediatric receiving center
  • Basic EKG interpretation test during orientation
  • No block scheduling; travelers must be flexible
  • 4 weekend shifts per month
  • Holiday rotation required
  • No call, but standby may be assigned for low census
  • 30-minute response time if called in from standby
  • No floating outside the ER
  • Navy blue scrubs for RNs
  • Orientation: 12 hours
