Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency medicine and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.

Shift Details

Shift hours are from 10:30 AM to 11:00 PM. Please note that block scheduling is not guaranteed, and floating may be required among units.

Unit Information

  • Unit Capacity: 64 beds total, including 2 triage beds, 40 acute care beds, 6 super track beds, 2 trauma beds, 10 clinical decision unit beds, and 6 psychiatric beds.
  • Common Patient Diagnoses: Stroke, Sepsis, Trauma, Myocardial Infarction (MI), Cardiac Arrest, and Respiratory Failure.
  • Patient Demographics: Newborns, Pediatrics, Adults, and Geriatrics.
  • Specialty Equipment: Rapid Infusor, Arctic Sun.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Emergency Department, including pediatric experience.
  • Active New York nursing license with NURSYS report for license verification.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certifications.
  • Experience with EMR systems, specifically EPIC.
  • Ability to administer required medications and drips including:
    • Pressors: Levophed, Neo, Epi, Vasopressin, Dobutamine, and Dopamine
    • Vasodilators: Cleviprex, Cardene, NTG
    • Anti-arrhythmics: Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lidocaine
    • Sedation: Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, TNK, Heparin, and Insulin

Additional Information

Due to the nature of emergency services, the position requires flexibility and adaptability. The nurse will be responsible for delivering high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.
