Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Room (ER)

Job Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Room (ER) is responsible for providing holistic care to patients and families. This role emphasizes independent, collaborative, and delegated nursing functions, tailored to specific competencies within the emergency care environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive assessments of patients across various age groups, including neonates, infants, children, young adults, adults, and older adults.
  • Develop and revise the patient care plan, ensuring coordination among multidisciplinary teams and delegating tasks as appropriate.
  • Execute nursing practices aligned with established standards, from nursing diagnosis to implementation and evaluation of care.
  • Participate actively in shared accountability and decision-making regarding nursing practices.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of practice standards and the overall environment to promote exceptional patient care.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Emergency Room setting.
  • At least 1 year of travel nursing experience.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications (AHA or ARC).
  • Certifications in Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC).
  • Experience in a Trauma Level I facility.
  • Proficiency in caring for all patient populations.
  • Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system.
  • Capability in cardiac rhythm interpretation.

Work Schedule

Position requires 12-hour shifts with start times at either 7 AM or 7 PM, guaranteed for 36 hours per week. Weekend work will be required based on departmental rotation; on-call duties are not applicable.

State License Requirements

A valid nursing license for Minnesota is required.
