Assignment Details

• Shift: Nights, 3x12s (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 36 hrs/week
• Every other weekend
• Charting: Epic

Job Summary
The Registered Nurse protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevents illness and injury, and alleviates suffering through diagnosis and treatment of human response, and through advocacy for individuals and families. Accountable to the New York State Nurse Practice Act, UHS and Nursing Division policies, ANA and Emergency Nursing Association Scope and Standards of Practice, the Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patient Rights.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care for a group of patients, serving as primary or accountable nurse as assigned
• Educates patients and families on health promotion and disease management
• Administers medications safely per UHS policy, applying working knowledge of pharmacology
• Shares responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization (staffing, time management, supplies, services)
• Complies with nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements
• Actively participates in the Nursing Shared Governance Model, Unit Council, improvement initiatives, and peer review
• Engages in ongoing professional development and continuing education
• Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice
• Supports new employees and students in a learning environment
• May perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties when assigned

Requirements

• 3 years of current ED experience, plus previous travel experience
• Knowledge of trauma, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, and pediatric care
• BLS and ACLS required
• Active New York State RN license
• Associate's degree from an accredited nursing program required; BSN preferred
• Epic experience required
• Unit-specific requirements listed in the Compliance Matrix — validate before submission
