Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced ER Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team in a high-acuity emergency department. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of thriving in fast-paced, high-volume environments and possess strong clinical skills for managing a diverse patient population, from neonates to geriatrics.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to emergency department patients, including triage and assessment.
• Administer medications and manage medication drips and blood products.
• Assist with trauma cases, codes, and perform advanced technical skills such as setting up chest tubes and art lines.
• Participate in the management of patients with behavioral health issues and substance use disorders.
• Ensure timely and accurate patient care through the use of electronic medical records (EMR), specifically Epic.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment while adhering to hospital protocols and guidelines for infection control.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a high-acuity emergency department setting with a high volume of patients.
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS or ENPC, & TNCC.
• Strong skills in barcode scanning for medication administration and Point of Care Labs is a plus.
• Experience in pediatric emergency medicine is highly preferred.
• Ability to pass the hospital's Triage Test prior to performing triage duties.
• Flexibility to work weekend rotations and various shift patterns as needed.

Patient Care Environment

Work in a Level III trauma center that sees 200-250 emergency department patients daily, including a range of conditions such as stroke (administer TNK), cardiac emergencies, and multi-system trauma. The emergency department is structured in zones to facilitate efficient patient care.

• Patient Ratios: 1:3-5 based on acuity; fast track available with 13 beds.
• No floating between units.
• Scrubs: Any color without logos.
