Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse is a key member of the patient care team responsible for delivering both direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process in all assigned areas. The RN will assess patients upon admission, utilizing appropriate interview techniques to gather past medical history, current medical status, vital signs, lab work, x-rays, and other diagnostic tests. In addition, they will play a vital role in planning and implementing a comprehensive care plan under the direction of a Physician.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• Active RN license in New Hampshire required or eligibility to obtain.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required.

Essential Job Functions:

Assessment:

• Able to perform standard assessments using basic medical equipment.

Medication Administration:

• Visual acuity is required.
• Hand-eye coordination is essential.

Communication and Documentation:

• Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
• Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Patient Safety:

• Complies with standards of job analysis forms.

Interpersonal Skills:

• Interacts positively with team members and patients.
• Respects the patient's culture, lifestyle, religion, and age when planning or implementing care.
• Accepts constructive criticism and handles emotional reactions in a positive manner.

Qualifications:

• Graduate from an approved School of Nursing.
• Current New Hampshire RN license required or eligibility to obtain.
• Clinical experience is preferred.

Professional Activities:

• Membership in a professional nursing organization is encouraged.
• Certification in specialty areas is preferred.

Shift Information:

• 3 x 12 Mid/Evening Shift - 9 AM to 9 PM.
• Holiday coverage is required.

Certifications and Requirements:

• ACLS certification required.
• BLS/BCLS certification required.
• PALS certification preferred.
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification preferred.
