Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure eligible for practice in Iowa
• At least 1 year of recent experience in emergency nursing, adult Med-Surg nursing, or a comparable acute-care setting
• Previous charge nurse, supervisory, or working-lead experience preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
• Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
• Ability to function confidently in both Emergency Department and adult Med-Surg environments
• Applicants are encouraged to provide details of any OB or newborn stabilization education and training

Emergency Department and Med-Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to Emergency Department and adult Med-Surg patients during overnight shifts
• Serve as the working supervisor and charge nurse for assigned clinical areas
• Coordinate patient flow, assignments, admissions, transfers, and discharges as appropriate
• Assess patients, prioritize care, administer medications, and perform treatments in accordance with established standards
• Respond effectively to urgent and emergent patient needs
• Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team members to support quality patient outcomes
• Provide guidance and clinical support to nursing staff while maintaining direct patient-care responsibilities
• Document assessments, interventions, reassessments, and patient responses accurately and promptly
• Promote a safe, organized, and patient-centered care environment throughout the shift
