Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

About the Position

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency care and the ability to handle diverse patient populations in a small, acute care setting.

Facility Information

• Open 24/7 with 8-10 beds
• New facility opening on November 3

Patient Types

The Registered Nurse will provide care for a varied demographic comprising neonates through geriatrics, including:

• 25% Pediatric patients
• Walk-in traumas
• Cardiac, neuro, GI, respiratory, and psychiatric cases

Patient Ratios

• 1:4 patient ratio
• 1:6 for fast track team nurse (RN, NP)

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Advanced NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Skills Required

• Strong emergency department experience
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Ventilator management (training provided)
• Knowledge in medication preparation and administration
• Experience with chest tubes and central lines
• Strong IV skills

Support on the Unit

The unit will have various support staff including:

• Charge Nurse
• Emergency Department Physician
• Emergency Room Technician
• Front Desk Staff
• EST/Phlebotomy for blood draws (primarily by RNs)

Charting System/Equipment

• EPIC
• Alaris
• Pyxis

Orientation and Training

• 1 day of hospital orientation
• 8-hour respiratory class
• 1 full day on the unit for hands-on training
• Traveler Telemetry Competency required before starting

Scheduling

• Weekend rotation: Every other weekend
• 12-hour shifts available with various start times:
• • Days: 0700
  • Mids/Eves: 1100, 1300, 1500
  • Nights: 1900
• Holiday expectations: every other or 50%
• Request Time Off (RTO) up to 5 days approved
