ED Observation Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department Observation team. This position involves managing 16 observation beds and providing acute care for adult patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and document findings accurately.
• Administer intravenous (IV) therapy and perform phlebotomy as needed.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret EKGs.
• Perform point of care testing and maintain quality standards.
• Implement appropriate splinting techniques for injuries.
• Utilize critical thinking skills to formulate patient care plans.
• Provide patient education and discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a traveler and 2+ years in a nursing role within the same location.
• Active Massachusetts RN license is required.
• Certifications: AHA ACLS, PALS, BLS, and TNCC.
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips.

Work Environment

The clinician-to-patient ratio is typically 4:1 or 5:1, depending on the unit's needs. This role requires flexibility for rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.

Technological Proficiency

Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Epic, Asap, and Clin doc is preferred.

Floating Requirements

Registered Nurses may be required to float to other units as needed.
