Emergency Department RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license and authorization to practice in Washington
- At least 3–5 years of Emergency Department experience in a Level III or higher trauma setting preferred; traditional travelers must have at least 2 years in a Level III or higher setting
- Previous experience caring for high-acuity emergency patients
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications
- MOAB/CPI certification, with the ability to complete it after starting when permitted
- EPIC experience required
- Competency with rapid sequence intubation, conscious sedation, lines, drains, tubes, and general emergency nursing skills
- Strong communication, clinical judgment, adaptability, and teamwork
Emergency Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to emergency patients with medical, surgical, psychiatric, cardiac, neurologic, and trauma-related conditions.
- Assess, triage, monitor, and reassess patients according to acuity and changing clinical needs.
- Care for typical assignments of approximately 1 RN to 4–5 patients, with higher ratios possible for lower-acuity patients.
- Assist with rapid sequence intubation, conscious sedation, wound care, and management of lines, drains, and tubes.
- Recognize and respond promptly to sepsis, stroke, cardiac, respiratory, behavioral health, and other emergent conditions.
- Administer medications, perform treatments, document care accurately in EPIC, and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary team.
- Work collaboratively with emergency technicians, respiratory therapy, providers, hospitalists, resource nurses, and support staff.
- Promote patient safety, compassionate care, and a positive team environment in a high-volume Emergency Department.
