Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position available in an acute care facility. This role involves providing critical patient care in a Level 1 trauma setting, working with a diverse patient population ranging from newborns to the elderly. The position offers a dynamic environment where nurses will be responsible for managing various emergency conditions, including trauma, cardiac events, strokes, and other urgent care needs.

Job Details:

  • Location: Emergency Department (ER) within an acute care facility
  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts starting at 7 PM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Start Date: 09/28/2026
  • End Date: 03/29/2027
  • Required Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course); minimum of 2 years of ER nursing experience
  • Certifications, Education, and Experience: Active Illinois license or proof of application process, valid certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS or TNCC, at least 2 years of ER nursing experience, and at least 1 prior travel assignment (preferred).
  • Patient Ratios: 1:3-5 based on patient acuity
  • Patient Types: Wide variety, from minor to critically ill patients, including trauma, cardiac arrests, strokes, and neonatal cases
  • Responsibilities:
    • Titrate all types of emergency drips including vasopressors, cardiac, and antihypertensive medications
    • Interpret patient monitor rhythms and act accordingly; ACLS certification required for rhythm recognition
    • Collaborate with physicians and mid-level providers, who staff varying shifts
    • Assist with trauma stabilization and transfer, but primary care duties may be shared with or delegated to other staff
  • Additional Notes:
    • Float to other units as needed, primarily as "help all" while maintaining specialty ER responsibilities
    • No specific scrub color required, professional solid-colored scrubs preferred
    • Charting will be performed in EPIC electronic health record system
    • Staff will be oriented to Phillips monitors; proficiency in rhythm interpretation expected
