    Job Details:

    • Evening and night shifts available, working 12-hour and 8-hour shifts as needed
    • Shift times: 3:00 PM - 3:30 AM or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
    • Weekend and holiday rotation required
    • Float to UW at East Madison Hospital Emergency Department as needed
    • Patient ratio of 4:1 for days, nights, and weekends
    • Care for patients across all age groups including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
    • 2 years of Emergency Department experience with adult and pediatric populations within the last 3 years required
    • Travel experience required
    • Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
    • Previous charge experience preferred
    • Epic electronic health records experience required
    • Wisconsin RN or Compact RN license required
    • Required certifications: ACLS (AHA only), BLS (AHA only), PALS (AHA only), TNCC
    • Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start with a passing score of 80% or higher
    • Adult telemetry exam requires 100% identification of lethal rhythms (ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole) and no incorrect answers on questions regarding 3rd degree heart blocks
    • Pediatric telemetry exam requires identification of ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole, and sinus bradycardia
    • Traveler has two attempts to pass the telemetry exam; a third attempt requires submission of a cardiac interpretation review course certificate
    • Providers must live more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted

The emergency department is a high-acuity facility with 67 treatment spaces, including a children's emergency department, and sees more than 200 patients per day. The facility is designated as a Level I Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Comprehensive Cardiac Center, offering advanced, specialized care across the region. The department supports nationally recognized programs in ECPR/ECMO, transplant, oncology, and burn care, and coordinates closely with ground ambulance services and Med Flight to care for critically ill and injured patients. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, rapid response teams, and more.
