Job Details:
• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Schedule includes weekends and holidays
• Patient ratio of 4:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• Float to UW University as required
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience with adult and pediatric populations within the last 3 years required
• Travel experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Wisconsin RN or Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, PALS, ACLS (AHA only), TNCC
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Must pass a Telemetry exam prior to start with a passing score of 80% or higher on both Adult and Pediatric exams
• Adult Telemetry Exam requires 100% identification of lethal rhythms (ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole) and no incorrect answers on questions regarding 3rd degree heart blocks
• Pediatric Telemetry Exam covers ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole, and sinus bradycardia
• Traveler has two attempts to pass; a third attempt requires submission of a cardiac interpretation review course certificate
• Must be comfortable caring for patients across all age groups including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Key clinical skills include triage, IV insertion and management, blood product administration, procedural sedation, management of dysrhythmias, arterial line management, central line care, care of ventilated patients, and trauma care
• Must be able to manage patients presenting with a wide range of conditions including stroke, traumatic brain injury, psychiatric holds, drug overdose, respiratory emergencies, and multisystem organ dysfunction
Facility:
This is one of the most advanced hospitals and wellness centers in the country, operating as a newer facility within a large health system. The Emergency Department provides comprehensive emergency care to nearly 45,000 patients annually and serves as a critical entry point to the health system. The department is designated as a Level IV Trauma Center, an Acute Stroke Ready Center, and a recognized Pediatric Ready Emergency Department. It features 40 exam rooms and 19 vertical care spaces, with the ability to flex an additional 20 exam rooms to accommodate high patient volume. The department works closely with ground ambulance services and Med Flight and also serves as the hospital's rapid response team throughout the entire facility. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and more.
