Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2 years of ED experience and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

  • 12-bed Emergency Department, including triage, often utilizing hallway beds
  • Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center with 69 total facility beds
  • Patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics with a variety of acute illnesses
  • Patient ratios typically 1:5, occasionally up to 1:6 based on acuity
  • 12-hour night shift, 1900-0730, 36 hours per week
  • Weekend rotation required every third weekend
  • Holiday coverage required based on unit need
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • No floating required
  • CNA support at a 1:12 ratio and in-house RT and hospitalist coverage 24/7
  • No dedicated phlebotomy team; ED RNs perform bedside phlebotomy
  • Lead RN serves as a unit resource rather than a titled charge nurse
  • Uses Epic EMR, GE monitors, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis medication system
  • One shift of orientation provided to learn unit flow

Requirements

  • Active WI or compact RN license required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, PALS, and de-escalation training (MOAB or CPI)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department experience required
  • Proficiency in general ED skills including chest tubes, IV starts, drips, phlebotomy, EKGs, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
  • Middle name or initial required for consideration
  • At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

  • Provide emergency care to a wide range of patients from neonates to geriatrics
  • Scrub color is flexible

  • No radius restriction; local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • First-time travelers considered upon review
  • Former employees of the health system or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for travel assignments
  • Time off requests may be approved based on staffing needs of the department
