Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to join a fast-paced 25-bed Emergency Department serving patients across all age groups. The department is part of a New York State-designated Stroke Center and provides comprehensive emergency care for a diverse patient population.
The ideal candidate should be confident managing high-acuity patients, interpreting cardiac rhythms, managing IV drips and ventilated patients, and delivering safe, timely care in a busy emergency environment.

- Department: Emergency Department
- Capacity: 25 beds + hallway treatment spaces
- Patient Population: All ages
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:3–1:5
- EMR: EPIC
- Facility Designation: New York State-designated Stroke Center
- Charge Nurse: Available; travelers are not assigned as Charge
- Nurse Aides: Available
- Respiratory Therapy: Available 24/7
- Hospitalist: Available
- IV Team: Not available
- Pharmacy: Not available 24/7
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients of all ages
- Perform rapid assessments and prioritize patients according to acuity
- Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and telemetry strips independently
- Safely administer and manage IV medications and titratable drips
- Care for patients requiring ventilatory support
- Assist with emergency procedures and stabilization of critically ill patients
- Collaborate with physicians, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, and other members of the care team
- Accurately document patient care using EPIC
- Maintain compliance with emergency nursing standards and facility protocols
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Active New York State RN License in good standing – Required
- ACLS – Required
- PALS – Required
- Emergency Department nursing experience
- Strong telemetry/strip interpretation skills
- Experience managing IV drips
- Experience caring for ventilated patients
Schedule
- 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM
- 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Rotating holiday coverage required
- Floating: Not required
Orientation
- Department-specific orientation provided
- Orientation is designed to familiarize the traveler with unit workflow, policies, equipment, and EPIC documentation.
Additional Requirements
- All Requested Time Off (RTO) must be submitted with the candidate's initial profile.
- No exceptions to the RTO submission requirement.
