Opportunity:

RN - ER

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available across multiple shift times: Days (7:00 AM–7:00 PM or 11:00 AM–11:00 PM), Evenings (3:00 PM–3:00 AM), and Nights (7:00 PM–7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend rotation required
• 1 holiday expected per contract
• No on-call responsibilities
• 6-week schedule cycle, received 1-2 weeks in advance
• Patient ratios: 1:3-4 for both day and night shifts
• Care for patients ranging from neonates to geriatric, with 5-8% pediatric population
• Patient types include chest pain, dizziness, syncope, strokes, sepsis, orthopedic, respiratory distress/failure, STEMI, and behavioral health medical clearance
• Average patient volume of 100-160 patients per day
• Must have 2-5 years of nursing experience with a minimum of 1 year of ED experience within the past year
• First-time travelers accepted with 3+ years of ED experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS; TNCC preferred
• Required skills: General ED skills, strong IV skills, cardiac rhythm interpretation and monitoring, foley placement and management, NGT placement and management, knowledge of STEMI/CVA/Sepsis treatments, and medication titration
• EMR: EPIC experience required within the last 2 years
• IV pumps: Alaris; Medication dispensing: Pyxis
• Travelers may be floated first based on facility needs, functioning as helping hands, taskers, sitters, or runners without a patient assignment
• Scrub color: Any color, professional (no camouflage, denim, or hoodies)
• Free parking available in the East parking structure on the 3rd floor or higher

Facility:

This facility is a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center with 277 hospital beds. The emergency department consists of 20 beds with 8 overflow beds and 4 cardiac arrest chairs. The unit is supported around the clock by a receptionist and health unit coordinator, respiratory therapy, hospitalist and physician assistant coverage, and bedside and nurses station telemetry monitoring. Additional support includes a charge nurse, ED educator available Monday through Friday, phlebotomy assistance, and a resource flow nurse during peak hours.
