Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a critical member of the patient care team, responsible for delivering both direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process across all assigned areas. The RN will assess patients upon admission utilizing appropriate interview techniques to gather past medical history, current medical status, vital signs, laboratory results, x-rays, and other diagnostic tests. Additionally, the RN will participate in the planning and implementation of a written care plan under the direction of a Physician.

Job Requirements

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree preferred
    • Active New Hampshire RN License required or eligibility to obtain
    • BLS certification required
    • ACLS certification required
  • All RN positions require successful completion from an approved School of Nursing.
  • All RN positions require a current, valid New Hampshire Registered Nurse License.
  • Registered Nurses working in specialty areas must meet those specific specialty requirements as determined by the discipline.

Essential Job Functions

Assessment:

  • Able to perform standard assessments using basic equipment.

Medication Administration:

  • Visual acuity required.
  • Hand-eye coordination required.

Communication/Documentation:

  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Patient Safety:

  • Able to meet standards of job analysis form.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Interacts positively with team members and patients.
  • Respects patients’ culture, lifestyle, religion, and age when planning or implementing care.
  • Accepts constructive criticism and channels emotional reactions positively.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Graduate from an approved School of Nursing.
    • Current New Hampshire RN License required or eligibility to obtain.
  • Experience: Clinical experience preferred.
  • Professional Activities:
    • Membership in a professional nursing organization.
    • Certification in specialty preferred.

Shift Information

  • Nights: 7 PM to 7 AM
  • Holiday Coverage Required: Yes
