Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) for a night shift opportunity, with a focus on providing high-quality care in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in emergency care, with first-time travelers accepted if they possess strong Emergency Department (ED) experience.

Contract Details

• Start Date: 10/19/2026
• Contract Length: 12 weeks
• Shift: 3x12 Nights (20:00 - 08:30)

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the emergency room.
• Maintain an appropriate patient-to-nurse ratio (1:4, and up to 5 with lower acuity).
• Staff the 10-bed ED hold/Obs unit within the ER department, with a ratio of 1:5, and up to 6 with lower acuity.
• Carry out triage, assessments, and interventions for patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective patient care.
• Participate in required weekend and holiday shifts as scheduled.
• Float within the ER specialty, including the hold/Obs unit as necessary.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIH Stroke Scale, and CPI certifications are required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an emergency department setting.
• Experience with EMR systems; EPIC experience preferred.

Patient Care Details

This role involves caring for a diverse patient population with various complex diagnoses. The average census is approximately 200 patients, and the emergency room is designed to handle a variety of medical emergencies and urgent care situations.

Work Environment

The emergency department features 66 patient rooms/beds, accommodating high volumes of patients in need of immediate care. The environment is fast-paced and requires quick decision-making and responsiveness to patient needs.
