Emergency Department RN Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent clinical nursing experience in an emergency department, emergency room, or comparable acute-care setting
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania
- Multistate Compact RN license eligibility or current compact licensure, as applicable
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and patient-care skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced emergency care environment
Emergency Room Nurse Responsibilities
- Assess, implement, and evaluate individualized care for emergency department patients
- Use the nursing process to identify patient needs and deliver timely, safe, and effective emergency nursing interventions
- Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, peers, and other members of the health care team
- Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes promptly to the appropriate care team members
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with clinical standards and applicable policies
- Document assessments, interventions, responses to treatment, and discharge or transfer planning accurately
- Provide patient and family education regarding care, treatment plans, and follow-up needs
- Direct and support nursing assistants and other support personnel in the delivery of patient care
