Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
• At least 2 years of professional RN experience
• At least 1 year of recent Emergency Department or Emergency Room nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and any additional credentials required for emergency nursing practice
• Ability to provide safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care in a high-acuity emergency department
• Must be a local clinician available to meet the per diem scheduling commitment

Emergency Nursing Responsibilities

• Assess, triage, and prioritize patients presenting with urgent and emergent medical conditions
• Deliver evidence-based nursing care throughout the emergency visit
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes in condition, and escalate concerns promptly
• Administer medications and treatments safely according to provider orders and clinical protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, ancillary services, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, follow-up care, and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and support a safe, organized emergency department environment
