  • Patient Population: Neonates through geriatrics, including general emergency, medical, respiratory, cardiac, and trauma-related presentations
  • Technology: Cerner, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, GE monitors, Hamilton T1 ventilators, and LifePak 20 defibrillators

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Maine
  • At least 1 year of recent emergency department RN experience required; 2 years preferred
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • TNCC and NRP certifications preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to provide emergency nursing care to patients across the lifespan in a fast-paced setting
  • Strong patient assessment, emergency triage, prioritization, and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to manage ventilated patients, cardiac and vasoactive infusions, insulin drips, central lines, and procedural sedation
  • Willingness to provide limited in-house support for medical-surgical and telemetry patients as needed

Emergency Nursing Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, compassionate, and efficient emergency nursing care to patients from neonatal through geriatric age groups
  • Perform rapid patient assessments, triage patients, identify changes in condition, and prioritize care according to acuity
  • Care for patients presenting with abdominal pain, congestive heart failure, chest pain, trauma, respiratory illness, seizures, animal bites, and other emergency conditions
  • Manage ICU hold patients and complex therapies, including insulin, cardiac, and vasoactive infusions
  • Care for patients with central lines, BiPAP, and mechanical ventilation, including management of ventilator settings in collaboration with the provider
  • Assist with procedural sedation and rapid sequence intubation care
  • Collaborate with providers, charge nurses, nursing supervisors, phlebotomy, emergency technicians, and cross-trained support staff
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, medication administration, and patient responses in Cerner
  • Support care continuity during admissions, extended stays, transfers, and emergency dispositions
