Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in a 24-bed Emergency Department managing a diverse patient population including psych, trauma, general medical, sepsis, cardiac, stroke, abdominal pain, and chest pain cases
  • Maintain patient ratios of 1:4–5, with potential for 1:5–6 with low-acuity patients depending on assignment type
  • Perform and assist with RSI, conscious sedation, and management of lines, drains, and tubes
  • Document accurately and efficiently using EPIC EMR (required for all RNs)
  • Participate in weekend rotation (every other weekend) and holiday coverage as needed per unit
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including charge nurses, CNA/ER techs, hospitalists, respiratory therapy, and mid-level providers available around the clock

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum 2–3 years of Emergency Room experience in a Level 3 or higher trauma center (3–5 years preferred for certain assignment types)
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (or ENPC for some assignment types), NIHSS, TNCC (or ATCN for some assignment types); MOAB/CPI may be obtained after start
  • Proficiency with EPIC EMR
  • General ER skills including RSI, conscious sedation, and management of lines, drains, and tubes

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience in a high-acuity environment with behavioral health patient population
  • Familiarity with Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
  • Experience with bedside and centralized telemetry monitoring
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume emergency setting with a collaborative team culture
