Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in Emergency Room/Emergency Department settings across multiple facilities within an assigned regional zone covering up to a 60-mile radius
- Manage a patient assignment of 4–5 patients based on acuity, including common ED presentations such as abdominal pain, stroke, NSTEMI, trauma, pneumonia, hypertension, and diabetes-related conditions
- Administer standard emergency medications and drips; perform and interpret telemetry monitoring independently
- Conduct Point of Care lab testing as trained and required by the facility
- Float between facilities within the assigned zone based on scheduling needs, which may include just-in-time facility assignments 1–2 hours prior to shift start
- Wear navy blue scrubs and adhere to facility-specific dress code requirements
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure valid in the state of Colorado (or compact eligibility)
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience
- Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required
- Ability to independently read and interpret telemetry strips
- Must be available to float throughout the full 60-mile regional zone regardless of personal housing location
- Must be physically present in-state for the week of orientation, even if initial modules are completed remotely
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working in trauma-level facilities (Level 3 or Level 4) or STEMI/Stroke receiving centers
- Comfort working in varied ED environments including fast track, triage, and mixed-acuity holding areas
- Experience with high-volume emergency departments treating 40–168 patients per day
