Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nursing in a clinical setting involves performing independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions in accordance with accepted practice standards as defined by the state Board of Nursing. The role includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care; evaluating health status through ongoing data collection; providing health teaching and counseling; delivering supportive and restorative therapy and treatment; executing delegated medical functions; referring patients for further evaluation; reviewing and monitoring therapy plans; documenting according to regulatory guidelines; and promoting the mission and values of the healthcare organization. The position may require floating to other departments within scope of competency and qualifications and being placed on-call during scheduled shifts.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Rotating shifts; 12-hour shift hours; minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: - ASN (Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing) - Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice - BLS (American Heart Association) certification - 1-2 years of emergency department nursing experience, with additional certifications including TNCC, PALS, ACLS
  • Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Nursing - Certification as appropriate for the unit or service (e.g., TNCC, PALS, ACLS)
  • Preferred Skills & Experience: Previous experience as a Registered Nurse in emergency nursing is preferred.
  • Additional Information: The role involves performing a variety of clinical duties in the emergency department, including potential float to other departments within scope of competency and qualifications, and adhering to hospital and regulatory documentation standards.
