Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) – 13-Week Travel Nursing Contract

Travel ER RN Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910–$2,010
  • Location: La Crosse, Virginia, a welcoming community known for its scenic rural surroundings and relaxed pace of life
  • Healthcare Setting: 16-bed community hospital emergency department
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: October 19, 2026
  • End Date: January 18, 2027
  • Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week
  • Shift: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
  • Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Orientation: 36 hours
  • Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
  • Typical Patient Ratio: Approximately 4:1 on night shift
  • Electronic Medical Record: Epic experience required

Emergency Room Registered Nurse Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of recent emergency department registered nursing experience
  • Active Virginia or compact-state RN license in hand at the time of submission
  • Current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications
  • Community hospital emergency department experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Experience caring for pediatric and adult emergency patients across the lifespan
  • Strong triage, patient assessment, prioritization, and emergency response skills
  • BSN preferred
  • TNCC and NRP are welcomed qualifications
  • Ability to complete required onboarding, background review, and fingerprinting requirements before the assignment start date
  • Two professional references required

Emergency Nursing Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients of all ages and acuity levels
  • Perform rapid assessments, triage patients, identify changes in condition, and initiate timely interventions
  • Care for patients experiencing stroke, STEMI, trauma, respiratory compromise, dysrhythmias, neurological emergencies, and other acute conditions
  • Support stroke-care protocols, including thrombolytic therapy when indicated
  • Manage patients receiving ventilatory support, IV vasopressors, continuous sedation, blood products, and procedural sedation
  • Start and maintain IV access, collect specimens, interpret dysrhythmias and ABGs, and provide central line care
  • Deliver safe care using appropriate isolation precautions and personal protective equipment
  • Collaborate with providers, emergency department technicians, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
  • Document patient care accurately in Epic
  • Participate in department operations, patient flow, emergency procedures, and floating within scope when needed
