  • Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Holiday rotation
  • Call: No on-call requirement at this time
  • Patient Population: Primarily adult patients, with approximately 5% pediatric visits
  • Travel Requirement: Previous travel nursing experience required; applicants residing within 50 miles of the work location are not eligible

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of Registered Nurse experience required; 3 or more years preferred
  • Recent Emergency Department, emergency nursing, or critical care experience strongly preferred
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the working state or a qualifying compact-state license
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI certifications required
  • CEN certification preferred
  • Dysrhythmia examination required
  • BSN preferred
  • Ability to complete required electronic health record training
  • Strong emergency nursing assessment, prioritization, communication, and response skills
  • Ability to safely care for patients ranging from neonates and children to adults and older adults
  • Ability to remain calm, adaptable, and clinically focused during high-stress situations

Travel Emergency Nurse Responsibilities

  • Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, identify changing needs, and develop and evaluate individualized plans of care
  • Provide evidence-based emergency nursing care for medical conditions, trauma, critical illness, mental health concerns, and life- or limb-threatening emergencies
  • Conduct triage, prioritization, stabilization, resuscitation, crisis intervention, and emergency management activities
  • Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with current nursing standards and applicable policies
  • Monitor and manage patients receiving critical care infusions, including insulin, sedation, and inotropic therapies
  • Care for patients with ventilators, central lines, Foley catheters, tracheostomies, feeding tubes, NG/OG tubes, external jugular access, and other emergency devices
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, emergency medical services, law enforcement, social services, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
  • Coordinate patient care and transfers while serving as a reliable point of contact for patients and their support systems
  • Recognize subtle and significant changes in patient condition and promptly escalate concerns
  • Educate patients and families, support coping and informed decision-making, and promote culturally responsive care
  • Use cardiac monitoring, ventilators, rapid-response equipment, portable suction, bladder scanners, and other emergency technology appropriately
  • Protect patient privacy, follow infection prevention practices, and promote a safe, high-quality care environment
