Job Summary:
The Emergency Room (ER) nursing position is located in Renton, Washington, within a busy acute care facility serving a population of over 600,000 patients. The role involves working in a fast-paced environment handling a diverse range of critical and non-critical cases, including trauma, stroke, sepsis, respiratory illnesses, and behavioral health. The position offers variable shifts, primarily heavy evening and overnight hours, with a focus on providing culturally competent care aligned with the facility's mission to serve the community like family.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Variable shifts including heavy evening (3:00 PM 3:00 AM), evening (5:00 PM 5:00 AM), and overnight (7:00 PM 7:00 AM), with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Certifications: Must have Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS).
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of ER experience, including at least 1 year in a trauma center, and prior travel experience.
- Clinical responsibilities include managing patients with diagnoses such as STEMI, stroke, DKA, sepsis, trauma, respiratory diseases, and behavioral health.
- Additional requirements include proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system, experience with RT equipment such as vents, Cpap, BiPap, and airway management, as well as the ability to perform ECGs and draw blood.
- The unit features a dedicated triage area, separate holding areas, psych/seclusion rooms, and in-house security, with staffing ratios of 4:1 for the main ED, 5:1 for fast track, and 2:1 for critical care.
- The candidate must be comfortable working in a highly diverse environment and willing to complete initial orientation including bedside badging and shifts with ED leadership.
- This position requires willingness to wait for license submission and prohibits first-time travelers.
